Alexandra Golici
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself when you were first just starting out in art?
Take your time. Remember that progress is not often linear and you have to accept that art doesn't have to be perfect either. Just keep making and enjoy the process! That's the fun of it.

Who do you think nurtured your talent and passion (influences, inspiration)?

My passion for art initially stemmed from watching anime. I really wanted to reproduce what I was watching so that resulted in me drawing constantly until the ideas began shifting and I approached a more personal style. My predominant inspirations lately have been Studio Ghibli's works, video games such as Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing; and nature! Also, cats. Let's not forget cats. They also make an appearance in my art.

What would be your dream day of creating art?

A good Spotify playlist goes a long way! Plus a good cup of tea, noise-cancelling headphones and my iPad/or art supplies and I'm good to go! All of these enable me to switch off reality for a bit and focus on creating.

Where in the world (think country, city, town, village, building, space, anything) would you most like to paint/draw/make art?
I'd really love to be on a flowery hill in the Cotswolds (a very picturesque set of villages in England, with fairy-like cottages), painting plein air. It would make me feel like Naoko in "The Wind Rises", I think.
In honour of our ghibli issue, please suggest to our readers some ghibli films!
My personal favourites are Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, Arrietty, and Whisper of the Heart! Oh, also Ponyo!
